St Bees School was founded in 1583 by Edmund Grindal, the Archbishop of Canterbury, under the warrant of Queen Elizabeth I. It is one of the oldest schools in the UK.

Brilliant Light School has been based on a balance between academic attainment and character development to ensure that every child can develops their own flight path. In an increasingly globalized economy, the importance of English as a world language is beyond doubt. Speaking fluent English is one of the necessary abilities for individuals in the future world. The school arranges senior foreign teachers' classes every week. Every Friday, there are house activities led by foreign teachers. Additionally school buses will be arranged on friday. The school creates an immersive English environment so that children can learn English naturally through immersion.

The school has more than 30 kinds of GCAS (After school activities), as well as various competitions and interesting clubs.
